Plain sodium chloride, the workhorse of ice control. Delivered in loads sized to your site, or loaded at the yard, including storm nights.
Rock salt is the lowest-cost way to melt ice on lots and drives. It works best when pavement is above about 15°F. Below that it slows way down, which is when treated salt or liquid helps.
Sold by the ton for pickup or delivery, and as 50 lb bags by the pallet.

Salt left uncovered clumps and runs off. If you don't have a barn, take smaller, more frequent deliveries, keep piles on a pad under a tarp, and use storm-night loading for top-offs.
